I am a science teacher (chemistry/biology) at Appleton West High School in Appleton , WI (with 8 years teaching experience). Within the district, I serve on our building technology committee and act as our building technology liason – to this end, I assist the building in the use of our grading program ( eSembler ), accessing our assessment system through www.nwea.org , and serve as a resource for integrating technology into curricula. I am also an advisor for Link Crew and Peer Helpers at Appleton West, and coach boys' Swimming/Diving for Appleton North/East. At the state level, I serve as the newsletter editor and am Preident-Elect for the Wisconsin Society of Science Teachers ( www.wsst.org ).

As a science teacher, I find that science (in its instruction and real-world practice) is tightly connected to technology. Thus, I have been working hard to integrate technology in my own classroom, with LCD projection, Vernier Data Collection hardware & software , RasMol protein visualization software, digital microscopy, Google Earth (and now Google Mars), RSS Science Feeds , science podcasts (such as Science Friday and Quirks & Quarks ), and many other new and innovative uses of technology.

“…universal access to task-appropriate technologies, coupled with teacher preparation and professional development designed to enhance science and technology teaching and learning, should become a national priority.”

I strongly believe in this statement, and feel that the Discovery Educator Network and United Streaming can allow educators to help reach this goal.
