Nate Garner
Maryland DEN

Nate Garner is currently teaching 7th grade Math at Hyattsville Middle School in Prince George's County, Maryland. He has 8 years of teaching experience, including 6 years on the elementary level. Nate is always looking for new ways to integrate technology into his classroom. He has been a unitedstreaming user for over 2 years and a member of DEN for over 7 months. He is true evangelist for unitedstreaming and he says that it has "changed the way he teaches." He continues to learn more cool ways to integrate Unitedstreaming content into other programs such as Word, Powerpoint, and Google Earth. "My students love it and they actually look forward to Math class everyday!"
Since joining the DEN, Nate has been very active and recently became a proud STAR DEN member. "I've had the opportunity to meet some amazing educators and share ideas and resources, as well as take advantage of a wealth of training opportunities available through the DEN and unitedstreaming ." He is the unitedstreaming contact person in his school and has been conducting training sessions on everything from a basic overview to integration and how to utilize all of the features on the site (i.e. Builders, Teacher Center, Professional Development, etc.) "My goal is to have everyone in my building proficient in unitedstreaming and after that I hope to use my status as a DEN member to spread the word across the county." Nate was recently featured in a Businessweek.com article where he describes his experience using unitedstreaming in the classroom. He is also currently serving on the unitedstreaming Advisory Board. As the only educator in the group, he is providing valuable feedback to the creators of the program from the perspective of someone who is "in the trenches." Nate vows to continue spreading the word of unitedstreaming and to find new, innovative ways to integrate technology into his everyday instruction.
