Teacher Appreciation Day Celebration & Workshop

You are invited to a special event by the Discovery Educator Network (DEN) New York Leadership Council!

The DEN New York Leadership Council (LC) wants to recognize the
dedication and hard work of New York educators and DEN members across
the Northeast. In the spirit of learning we have produced a fun hands
on digital media integration project that we will share with the world
on the New York LC Blog after the event.

We are holding 4 simultaneous events at 3 different sites in New
York. The 4th event will be a live Webinar to share information during
the hands on digital media integration project and to allow educators
across the Northeast to login and join us online.

We will provide pizza and refreshments for everyone that can attend on-site in NY!

4pm-4:10 Refreshments & NY DEN Teacher Appreciation Welcome
- Sneak Preview of brand new NASA video!

4:10pm- 5:30pm: Integrating DE Digital Media & Google Sky

New York Leadership Council members will walk you
through a fun hands on lab to search for digital media in DE streaming,
and then how to utilize the free version of Google Sky to build a
lesson about your groups constellation in the sky.

Using the Digital Media your team finds work together
to tell a digital story by navigating through the cosmos in Google sky
and embedding or linking to stars, location markers, or other objects
you find to tell the story of your constellation.

5:30pm-6pm: Pizza & Teacher Appreciation Bags
( Note: We’ll post the completed projects via links in the Webinar to
share online with teachers that have joined us via Webinar to take part
in the project at home or elsewhere.)

6:00pm- 6:20 Creating New DEN STARS in the Sky using your DE and Google Sky Project
We will cover what it means to be a STAR Discovery Educator, and how
you can share your completed project with educators to help more
teachers reach more students with digital media.

6:30pm-7pm: Final Celebration Presentation
Enjoy Desert and we’ll pull a name from all of the attendees both online and on-site to see who wins the Planet Earth DVD set!
