Profiles of Courage, Controversy, and Sacrifice (WWII): Minority Units of World War II .

I presented the above mentioned video to my 8th Grade Social Studies class. About one third of my students are Hispanic. While the video is factual and informative, it neglects Mexican Americans and their role in World War 2. Mexican Americans experienced the same prejudice as other minorities.

According to the Balch Institute of Ethnic Studies of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, "Mexican Americans were drafted into or volunteered to for U. S. armed services, where they had the highest percentages of Congressional Medal of Honor winners of any minority in the United States." Let's privide more content about the contributions of Mexican Americans to United States military conflicts and the figth for equal rights and the American Dream.

Seriously! What IS a Mexican American?

Is being American not good enough?

I was wondering the same thing. I think a Mexican American is a person
who was borne in Mexico and them moved to US and become a US Citizen. I
dislike when people are borne here and then they call them selfe
...American. I do not understand that...
