I use streamline video to teach my students about different types of research tools. As my student build their interest inventories, I develop research folders using the streamline videos based on their interest. Students use the videos in the research folders as research tools for projects to share with the class. I also allow my student to preview videos and then respond to them on our class blog. This really has helped them develop written discussion techniques and research skills. Sometimes we review the class blogs, to make observations about the persuasive writing techniques and/or author's crafts that students have used in their writing.
I teach 5th and 4th grade students.
I have created power points for my advanced and gifted students with links and embedded video. They explore through the power point on their own and then teach the topic to the class. They can create their own power point or other media to use in their presentation as well depending on the student. They seem to really enjoy the independeance and take pride in creating their own piece to share.
