Dream features

Now that the new website is up and running, I'm curious to know what your 'dream features' would be for future upgrades.  Private messaging?  Social groups (like Facebook's groups)?  Digg-like voting for Educator Resources?  Live chat rooms?

I can't guarantee to be able to implement every idea.  But you never know until you ask!  So throw some ideas out there and let's see what we can do...

Hi!

I was checking out the Educator Resource section. It seemed like there were a lot more educator resources on the old website. Have the old ones not been transferred yet? I tried to access the old website to check on this. But, I couldn't.

You're absolutely right.  We're still moving resources over and correcting information to the new system.  It's a slow process, but we're moving right along!

I would like for the search engine to be more accurate. On the old site when I would type in a search it would give me completely unrelated things.

Other things I would like to search by:

I would also like to be able to search for specific file types.

I would like to be able to view all the resource uploaded by a specific educator.

I would also like to be able to view what I have uploaded. I have a tone of PowerPoints and worksheets, but I dont want to waste time uploading something I have already uploaded.

Those are some fantastic suggestions.  You're dead on about the search on the new site.  That's one of our big priorities here is to make the search more accurate.  As to your other ideas, I love them!  And not only that, I think they can be done.   I'm hoping to take it a step further even, by incorporating RSS so that you can subscribe to those searches as well!

Great ideas, keep them coming!

I  would love to see a Return to Top button put into Forum threads.  Drives me nuts to have to scroll back up when I'm done reading a thread.  Or if I'm awake enough I can use Ctrl + Home.  But usually when I'm here it is late at night and no I'm not fully awake.  Just a thought to make it more user friendly.

Wow, that's an interesting one!  I never thought of that.  But I bet we can figure out a way to do it.  Thanks for a great idea.  I'll work on it.

I don't see a "Help" link.  I'm having problems logging in to edit my blog and have been unable to use any of the passwords sent to me while trying to reset my password.  A Help button with FAQ's would be nice.

I realize this blog is for the DEN website but do have a request as a STAR DEN member for an improvement with DE streaming.  When I login and see the main page, it would be nice to be able to re-arrange the Current Events and Featured Videos listings.  It woud be nice to be able to move them so they appear side-by-side rather than having to scroll down until the hole list has been reviewed.

I would like to click on "new" and have it go directly to the new comments I haven't read yet.  I'm lazy and don't like to scroll down to find the ones I haven't read yet
