Trouble playing back edited video - Help!

Hi, I'm a teacher who has just edited my first Unitedstreaming video segment using Windows MovieMaker, but Windows MediaPlayer gives me an error message when I attempt to playback. The error code is C00D11B1 - related to something about my sound divice. My sound device works fine with edited video from sources other than Unitedstreaming, so I don't think it's a hardware problem. Does anyone have an idea?

 I'm running Vista, MovieMaker 6, MediaPlayer 11

 Thanks,

You can try to go into tools in Windows Media Player > Options > Devices >click on speakers > Click on Advanced > and put in a default device.

You can also try to open Windows Media Player > Tools > Options > DVD > Advanced Tab

Look for the codecs section and see if it is has disabled beside of it, if it does then choose one to see if that helps.

Katrice,

Thanks for replying to my post! I tried the first suggestion, and the speaker device was working properly - no change.  The second suggestion reguarding the DVD option is not available. What I mean is the "Advanced" button is not available under the DVD Options tab.

I don't know if this matters, but I'm not trying to playback a DVD. It's a .wmv file.

 Thank you so much,

Sorry that did not work.  I am more of a Mac person but I tried googling the error to see if I came up with anything.  You may want to just do a google search and type in the error code and read through some of the forums.  It may help fix your problem. I saw a lot of people saying that it was not a problem with Media Player 10 where it was with 11.  If I find out anything else I will post it.

Hey, thanks.

I'm going to close this thread because the problem has been corrected. I can't say for sure what fixed it because I was trying a few things at the same time. Here's what I did...

I uninstalled my Nero software because I saw it interlaced with the WMP advanced tools options menu. I installed a digital player package called DIVx. Someone suggested that many video problems were related to a missing codec from DIVx. I had to scrap my 1st MovieMaker video, but every subsequent movie works fine.

Like I said, I don't know what exactly fixed the problem, but it's working now.

Thanks for helping,
