Parodies and Copyright
My ears are perked up. We also entered the Interwrite contest with a parody of a song from My Fair Lady called, "All I Want is Technology". I'd love to know more about publishing this on the internet. We are still online: http://www.interwritelearning.com/contest/index.html
Loved your video. Our video didn't make it to the finals, but the kids had a great time and learned a lot while writing the song. Now I want to do more.
OK, parodies seem to be covered but the definition is a bit vague, naturally. "Satire"seems to be the more "legal" term. Make sure you don't incorporate other copyrighted material like Karaoke CD's, etc. Take a look at http://www.benedict.com/ for some in depth research. --Joe

My class participated in the Interwrite contest in which we had to make a music video that was a parody of a popular song. We had a great time with our "Born to Be Wired" music video and would now like to create a PSA with a parody of a Disney song. I see that parodies are ok under the fair use law, but I am not sure what I can legally publish and what is not ok. Anyone have any specific information about parodies??
