I use Discovery Education Streaming frequently in my Art classes. I have the students watch videos on different Artists. I also have my students view the videos that show the different art disciplines and techniques. My children love Discovery Education Streaming!

I previewed a video segment called "How Did We Tell Time Before Clocks?" in the video "Tick Tock: All About the Clock". It had a few sundial examples that are not scientifically correct. There is one sundial photograph that is accurate. My kids have always had a lot of trouble with thinking that the numbers on a sundial go all the way around the dial like a clock. Also, there is a representation that a shadow caused by the sun lenthens in a straight line. This is also scientifically incorrect. This part of the video perpetuates incorrect visual representations. United Streaming may want to consider the presentation of this, or to note the incorrect respresentations for educators considering its use.

I use united streaming during my pre-algebra lesson to reinforce an idea or concept we are learning. My students benefit from hearing the information twice, once by me and once my a united streaming video. My students also get to see the same concept presented two different ways, which means more students are being reached.

I've used UnitedStreaming for many different things. Most recently, I've used it to show my 4th graders how to prepare for writing a research report. We've watched videos about note taking skills, organization, using different sources and how to properly cite them and how to long-term plan for a research report.

I've shared the great things about US with my team and they've all jumped on the bandwagon! We love UnitedStreaming!

I use the Writing Prompt Builder as students enter the class to encourage discussion, give focus to the lesson content, and as a brainstorming activity.  I use videos to begin a class or attach to a webquest for background information.  Some clips can be used as visuals to explain concepts covered in lessons.  Assignment Builder can be used as a protected webquest for the classroom.  The quiz builder is a great way for assessments to be graded for you and short answer questions used for extra credit.

Sounds good. Now, HOW do you grade the work students do using writing prompts? I get the email that says that the student completed it, but do I have to go into each individual student's account to check the work? Or does the student print out what he or she did? Or what?

Thanks for your help and input!

I used some video clips to let the kids practice note taking.  They watched the whole clip first. We discussed some information. The second time I ran the clip they took their notes.  We discussed them and I ran the clip again if they needed clarification.

As the kids improved, I could sometimes cut out the last run.
