Edited Videos

Some videos in Discovery Education need edited.  I love using United Streaming in the classroom.  I teach Sociology and World History and use clips or full videos often.  I wanted to use something powerful to help students better understand the impact of racism in the United States.  I found a great video on United Streaming entitled Racism.  It was a video about "Flipping" worlds and creating situations where racists encountered other racists.  It chronicles their experiences and the changes each racist feels.  The video is powerful and would have had a great impact on my students.  I could not use this video because of the language.  In this day and age, very few school districts will allow videos to be shown with those words.  I wish an edited version existed for teachers.  Many teachers lack the skills or technology support to edit a video, and I can't put my career on the line for this.

HI,

Do you have Instructional Technology Resource Teachers assigned to your school or in the district? If so, contact them or the department and let them know your instructional needs. If not, send an email to your fellow colleagues within your school requesting assistance with Windows Movie Maker. This program is free if you are using a PC.

If this fails then click on the following link:

Scroll down  until you see DEstreaming Resources for Digital Storytelling. Click on MovieMaker for step by step directions. Good luck! I hope this was helpful.
