Burning Videos

I am looking for a good converter to convert US videos to a format that CD burning software will support and can therefore be easily burned to disk.  I am also looking for good CD burning software that will reliably burn videos in the V-CD format so the videos can be played in DVD players.

Any suggestions?

I have found great success in using NERO to burn DVD's and VCD's.  It is not free but you can download a trial version that works just like the purchased program.  Then you can decide if you like it.  I really like it because creating DVD's is a very easy process.  They are very customizable and even allow for chapter creation.  Cool if you just want to jump to the one section (segment) vs fast-forwarding through the entire video.  If you just want to burn VCD's, I have also used VCDEasy (I think it is still free or shareware?) and it worked.  Also, Roxio's Easy CD Creator has the VCD capability.  This program came free with our CD writers - you would need to purchase the upgrade though so that you can get the VCD option opened.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Conni.  We have Roxio, but our Tech. Dept. did not purchase the upgrade; I think to keep costs down.  I have used Nero before, but we currently use XP as our OS and I thought Nero had known compatibility issues with XP?

At any rate, thanks again for your comments.  I appreciate them!

Gotta agree with Conni. If you have a CD/DVD burner, then it should have come with burning software or is it that the VCD option only comes with the "full" version?--Joe

The VCD option only comes with the "full" version.
