Putting United Streaming videos into presentations
The only way I am aware of accomplishing what you are asking about is to download the video and then embed it into your presentation. To view it directly from the web takes an account.
If you login to Discovery Education website before your PowerPoint presentation, and then load up your PowerPoint over top, it will go directly to the website since you are logged in.
your best bet is to download first then embed it into the presentations, if you're looking for a seemless transition between the presentation and video clip this is your best option, but if your into working in between your presentation then try the the other options
There are two ways. Both need to have the video downloaded to the machine.
It is best to create a folder (I use the desktop, but you can put it any place that works for you). Download the videos there. Create your Power Point and save it in that same folder.
It seems to work best as you save the video if you take the spaces and ___ out of the names. I have had them not link correctly with those things as part of the name. It is quickest to do it as you save, but you can go back and rename before you start to create the Power Point.
As you create slides you can go to insert, then to movies and sounds, choose from file and go to where you saved your video. Click on the video. It will need to be resized as large as you can on the slide, and you can decide if you want it to start automatically when you click on the slide, or if you want to have to click on it to start it (this the way I usually do it).
The other option that I actually like better is to create a link on the Power Point slide to the video. This allows it to show in Windows Media Player and you can have full screen. Also I have had fewer problems with videos not working using this option.
Type the words you want to use as your link. It can be as simple as "video" and then highlight the words with your mouse. Go to insert, hyperlink, then to where you saved your video and click on it. You are ready. You can check the link by putting the Power Point in presentation mode and clicking on the link you just made. The video should start in Media Player.

It is best to download the video then embed it into your powerpoint. You can save the powerpoint and all of the videos in one folder on a CD or flashdrive. This makes the presentation portable allowing you to use it on other PCs or MACs.
