Has anyone figured out a way to imbed DE videos in SMART notebook files? I believe that all we can do at this point is to link them, but my staff wants to be able to imbed them expecially for younger students. Anyone have this figured out? Thanks! Rae Ann

Excellent question you

Excellent question you pose.  It made me curious to know the answer as well.  So I did a google search.  Here is what I found.  SMART Notebook only embeds .flv (flash videos).  You would have to convert a DEstreaming video into flash.  Then it should work.  Here is a great guide http://www.ict.oxon-lea.gov.uk/whiteboards/Getting%20Started%20with%20SM... from the UK.  I think I'll be saving this tool for another time.  It looks quite useful.  Hope what they have to say helps.  Check out page 24 it discusses video.

Actually, in my own

Actually, in my own researching of materials to use for September I came across a document "What's New" regarding the New DE streaming.  http://help.discoveryeducation.com/assets/support/whatsnewbts09.pdf  If this link doesn't work it was located behind the orange "What's New" button.  According to this we can now choose to download in flash format.

"Flash Video:  Discovery Education videos and segments are now available in flash format.  Users can click the Stream Type option from the video detail page to select the Flash option in their media settings.  If you are currently using a Discovery Media Server, locally hosting content within your network, or using Network Manager software, this option will be coming soon.  "

Oh I like that way even better...

You can embed the video into

You can embed the video into PowerPoint too. That way you can intergrate it into your lesson/ Power Point.

All the comments have great

All the comments have great answers to your question. DE Streaming is now posting some of its content in .flv or flash video format. If you find something you really like and it is not available in flash format you can use a couple of conversion websites. Here are some that I like: http://media-convert.com/     http://www.youconvertit.com/ConvertFiles.aspx   This next one is an actual software that I use when all else seems to fail http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/#us. Good luck with what you are trying to accomplish.
