SW PA FREE CONFERENCE

Hello,

My name is Joe Oliphant and I am the Technology Integration Director at Propel Schools in Pittsburgh.  I am a 2008 Keystone Technology Integrator and PAECT member.

I am writing to invite you to a FREE technology conference that I am organizing.  The event will be Monday August 17th from 8:30-3:30. This event will be 100% Powerful practices focusing on instruction.  There will be no sales pitches or any catch at the end of the day for vendors to try to sell you anything.  So far there are sessions on using: PhotoStory in the art classroom, Smartboard Calendar integration, ways to use distance learning for meaningful purposes, Music with Audacity, Wikis in the classroom, Glogster....and many more.

The event will have teachers from all grades who will be sharing various technology best practices.  There will be prizes given away ( digital camcorders, digital cameras, and ????) 

I wanted to share this with as many people because this day will be a day of sharing.  So many times we go to conferences and dont get to converse and network with enough teachers....that is the point of this day.  The day will be mandatory for teachers at my school, but there are other teachers from various districts who are presenting/participating.

You will also have the opportunity to fellow Keystone and PAECT Teacher of the Year Traci Blazosky who will be presenting at this event.  If you were at the AIU3 Day of Discovery, she was there presenting as well. Here is her wiki.  http://ktitraci.wikispaces.com/

This should be a day that will benefit beginning technology users to the most advanced user.  SHARING IS CARING!

One more time...this event is FREE.  Invite your colleagues, principals, tech coordinators, students.  The more the merrier.  The event will be held at Propel Montour in Kennedy Township...about 15 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. ( 1 minute off of 79 off the Crafton Ingram exit)
