Think Link Learning Practice Probes

The teachers in my building have been extremely committed to creating and administering TLL practice probes.  Generally, the students complete them on-line or via paper-pencil method.  We are currently looking for additional ways to incorporate the practice probes into our curriculum.  Please share how they are used in your classroom.

Hi Paula,  I use the

Hi Paula,

I use the Practice probes a lot for my special needs students.

- I give 10 items practice probes and give them the codes at the beginning of the week.

- It's a great HW because they do not have excuses for not doing their HW now. No computer at home?, they go to the Public Library.

-I let them work on it every day (I guide them in the classroom, parents guide them at home) during the last ten minutes of the class making sure that they know how to get to the answer (as oppose to just bubbling in randomly)

- I print out the practice probes that I use also as my short cycle assessments (quiz) every Friday. I ask them to show their answers and/ or ask the students individually how they get to the answers. They can't get a point for the item if they cannot explain the answer.

The Practice Probes now serve as:

1. Homework for students, 2. Short Cycle Assessments (quizz) 3. Review for their state assessments

 Hope this helps!
