Open Office 3.0 and a upgrade to Google Docs.

Open Office 3.0

A note to all the mac users our there. Open Office 3.0 is out and it is a great upgrade to the world of open source "new technologies". This program has all most of the features of MS Office 2008. The previous versions of Open Office required x11 to be installed on your mac. The newest and lastest version of this program can just be installed on a mac with out x-11.

Not a mac user. Open office has been written for just about every computer platform

You can download open office at http://www.openoffice.org/

An update to the Web 2.0 world

Google doc's added footnote support to its web 2.0 documents in the last week. This move is a step in the right direction for the educational world. Google docs can be used from an igoogle account, ( free) a google  apps for education account ( free ) or a google apps for teams account also free.

Information is available at http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/edu/index.html

These tools can help in the ever shrinking educational tech budget.

It would be helpful to everyone in the DEN to post addition resources such as these to share and use. I can create a website all the links once we get enough to post.
