Podcasting-Anyone Listening?

My Brother and I have been producing the EdTech Musician Podcast (http://edtechmusician.libsyn.com) for almost four years. In the beginning we experience much feedback and listener input. It made us feel like we were really part of a community and kept us motivated. In the past year or so there has been a decline in listener feedback and the number of listeners hasn't grown.

My question is: Do you listen to podcasts? Which Podcasts do you listen to regularly? What elements of a podcast keep you coming back for more?

Thanks!

I listen to a lot of

I listen to a lot of podcasts every week. Here are some of the things I look for:

  • Published on a consistent schedule. When I know that a new one is always coming out on Sat. that helps me plan my listening schedule and habits form.
  • I learn something that I didn't know before.
  • The podcast has some application to what I do as a professional or personally.
  • I can subscribe through iTunes. If not I just don't listen.

I listen to Podcasts that

I listen to Podcasts that are related to my subject area. History Network.org is my favorite. I would love to see or hear a podcast that gave best practices for the classroom with a little tutorial added in. I think the more a teacher can see application of what they are learning the more meaningful any podcast willl be the to end user....

I have been toying with the idea of starting an elementary math focused podcast, but I want to wait until my master's is done because I know as soon as I start, I have to keep it going. -Tony

Here is some of my

Here is some of my preferences for podcasts...

1. It's got to be in iTunes.

2. It also should have a website attached in which I can give feedback to each podcast.

3. People need to have a schedule or tweet the new podcasts through twitter. Try not to do more than one a week. Too many podcasts in a short time make me lose interest.

4. It has to be entertaining!!  Be passionate, funny, and make it fun!

5. Make it interactive or possibly have it be a live show in which you podcast the event after the show.

 6. Buy a nice mic and make sure your sound quality is top notch!!
