Hello, my name is Roxie Metz.  I am an art teacher in an elementary school in New Rochelle, NY.  I am wondering if there are other Art Teachers on the DEN.  I'd love to hear from you.

Hello Amy,

I am so thankful that you answered me back.  I was beginning to think no one was going to respond.  Would you like to be email friends?  I am an elementary school art teacher but I use to teach high school summer programs.  Perhaps you would like to collaborate.

Hi Roxie,

I teach at the elementary level as well and have used my art background a lot in teaching art in context related to content areas.  What kinds of projects are you hoping to use?  What mediums do you use with your students?    I have some ideas for you in using chalk pastels and ink for chinese characters...this works with the third grade curriculum in California.  What grades and you teaching?  What are the big themes for each of those grades?  It's nice to hear from another artist. To any and all people interested in Art, here are a couple links I think you would really enjoy.  The first link is to a great friend's art lesson based website.  You will be able to view and use standards based lessons.  That link is: http://web.mac.com/khoneycuttessdack/Kevin/Art_Snacks/Art_Snacks.html

The second link: http://essdacksnackarts.org is a ning community that Kevin Honeycutt has established that goes beyond the original website I have posted.  People across the globe contribute art and lessons to this ning community.  Please visit and "snack" on the art lessons waiting for you!  Please let Kevin Honeycutt know I sent you all to this site.  He is great and will chat with anyone about one of his biggest passions....education!
