xtranormal is xtra-cool!

http://www.xtranormal.com/

This is a site I was introduced to through http://arted20.ning.com -- a networking site for Art Educators.

It allows students/teachers to create animated movies by typing the script. I am not going to say too much more because it speaks for itself. Check it out!

I learned about XtraNormal

I learned about XtraNormal on Facebook.  Friends were using it to make simple-minded videos and post on each others wall.  It was fun, but my simple-mind immediately jumped to Digital Storytelling!

I made an example--Atticus and Scout discussing "climbing into another's skin and walking around a while," and the process kind of reminded me of a modern way to make a diorama: I had to sum up message or highlight a sceen and capture it in one place.  Great fun, but since they are computer voices, it doesn't allow the creator to get to the "Soul" of a story that Bernajean was talking about.  You may eventually be able to add your own voice.

I think it would be great to introduce to students, ~about :05 minutes to get rolling, have them storyboard, and then give them 30 minutes to complete a project.  It could be great fun.

Thanks for bringing it up and keep the Web2.0 tools coming!
