When does the National Training Academy occur?
June 1-3, 2008

What time does the National Training Academy begin?
The start time for both Monday (June 2) and Tuesday (June 3) is 8 AM (EST). An optional “meet and greet” with the Discovery team will take place on Sunday, June 1st at 6 PM (EST).

What time does the National Training Academy end?
The first day of training on Monday, June 2 will finish at 6 PM (EST). The second day of training will come to a close on Tuesday, June 3 at 3 PM (EST). We will also have a special evening activity on Monday, June 2 for those who choose to attend.

How much does it cost to attend?
The cost is $750 per person. This includes the registration fee and meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner on Monday and breakfast/lunch on Tuesday).

Does the price include travel and lodging?
No. Travel to and from the institute and lodging (if applicable) are the responsibility of the participants and are not included in the $750 fee.

Do you have any recommendations for lodging?
There are many hotels in the area, several of which are within walking distance to Discovery’s headquarters.

We have negotiated a discounted rate for our participants at the Courtyard Marriott in Sliver Spring, MD just two blocks from the site of the National Training Academy. The price per night is $199 plus tax.

Reservation Procedures
1) Call 1-800-321-2211 (Courtyard by Marriott Central Reservations Department) and state that you are calling to make reservations at the Courtyard Silver Spring Downtown in Silver Spring, MD
2) Ask for the “DEN Group C” Room Block at the negotiated group rate.
3) Please call before Thursday, April 17, 2008. After this date, they cannot guarantee the rate or availability of rooms.

The reservationist will request a credit card to guarantee the reservation and will give each guest a confirmation number.

There are several airports that provide access to Silver Spring, MD.

Is there parking available?

Is there a cancellation fee if I have to withdraw?
The registration fee of $750 is non-refundable.

When is the deadline to register?
Space is limited. Registration will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

What do I need to do after I register?
First, make your travel arrangements and hotel reservations (if applicable). Summer is a busy time in the Washington, D.C. area and hotels can sell out quickly. Second, you will receive an email from Lance Rougeux (Director of Professional Development) that contains a link to an online survey we ask all participants to complete.
