I use this to introduce Computer Literacy to my students.  It is an easy worksheet for them to understand the acronyms used in technolgy.  They are given quizes on the acronoyms once a week for the first nine weeks of school.  I check the quizzes for the correct abbreviation and spelling of the word. betsy.whalen on Wednesday, Mar 08 2006 at 11:42 AM on Sunday, May 14 2006 at 06:24 AM on Monday, Oct 09 2006 at 10:36 AM AliceHartel on Tuesday, Jan 30 2007 at 11:20 AM Computer Literacy

The appropriate use of e-mail outlined on this presentation are designed to help schools avoid possible liabilities resulting from students' and/or staff members' misuse of school computers and technology systems. These efficient use practices create an interwoven system of support that equally distributes responsibility for protecting students, and teachers during online use. (Appropriate Use of E-Mail is part one of a four part series on the use of e-mail in schools.) http://www.enidk12.org/~itdepartment/policies.html E-Mail

This could be used as a template for a 5th grade Parent orientation night. You would need to fill in what your school has and does, including your own procedures, however, it is a start. Parent Orientation, Back to School Night

This is a class project using Photostory 3 software. The class will create a digtial storytelling introducing themselves to each other and for the parents to see for back to school night. First- Teacher needs to take pictures of each student in the class with a digital camera. Second- transfer pictures to a file on your computer usually in My Pictures file is good or a file on your server. Then open Photostory 3 and import all the pictures into the program. Third- Have the students record into the program on their picture slide What their name is and what is their favorite color or whatever infroamtion you would like them to share about themselves. Keep it short and simple. Then add a soft classical music to the show and save to your computer. Then your show is done and you can play it to help the students learn each others names and show it to the parents to WOW! Them at back to school night or at open house. This worked great for us this years and we positive feedback. This project doesn't take that long to do. Have fun! Download Photostroy 3 from Microsoft website for FREE! It is easy and quick. photostory 3, open house, back to school, language arts, introductions, friendship
