This is a WebQuest about the life of Ludwig van Beethoven created by Jeff Steurer, a teacher in Woodstock CUSD 200 in Illinois. The activity is designed for use with a 5th grade class and also includes a presentation rubric and a lesson template. Students will get an overview of the life of Beethoven so that they can start to think about a piece that they would like to study chosen from a suggested list. In the study, they will work in a group to learn about the form, mood, musical elements involved, and other musical characteristics (e.g., style/historical aspects) observable in Beethoven s music by attempting to understand why Beethoven might have written the piece. At the end of their study, they will present orally and visually to the class. Beethoven, music, composer

Hi everyone... So why is a Music teacher contributing a Social Studies site? Because the first lesson on the site has a MUSIC CONNECTION!!! Namely, African and American drums! Plus, this is a pretty huge deal in my corner of the world...so I highly recommend going to this website and registering for full access. Here is the full website too.http://www.americas400thanniversary.com/ history, drums, Jamestown, settlers, migration, freedom

This unit has ten stations that incorporate History, Geography, Vocabulary, Writing and Composition while leading students to take a closer look at the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. I taught this lesson over three weeks to students in grades 4-6 with great success. At the end of the unit, I gave students the opportunity to provide feedback not only to the content of the stations, but also to the idea of stations themselves. Mozart, History, Geography, Writing, Music

This is a three-four class project which involves students in playing on barred instruments. I did have more advanced students work on the piano. The culminating activity was including the piece on a school-wide performance. Beethoven, instruments, performance
